Thousands of Happy Crate Diggers ✮✮✮✮✮

We're always listing second-hand records for all you crate diggers, so if you want to know our process and how we look after the records this one's for you!

First up we need to buy some records, so if you have records to sell or know anyone who is looking to shift some records then please let us know!

You can find out more about our Record Buying Service Here

With records in hand we check them and give them a clean! We visually check every record we sell to ensure that we sell and list them as accurately as possible.

Hand Cleaning

Hand Cleaning

Every record will get a hand clean, to remove any visible dust or debris, and finally removing any marks. First off a brush and then a wipe with trusted cleaning solution. You can read more about the cleaning process here.

Machine Cleaning

Machine Cleaning

For more expensive and rarer records, or ones that just need a more aggressive clean we use our Humminguru Ultrasonic cleaner.

We would love to put all second hand records through the ultrasonic cleaner but thats not viable time wise, but you can be assured every record gets a thorough clean before we list and you buy.

We then put the album in to a protective sleeve, and an anti-static sleeve if the original sleeve is looking a little worse for wear, or it's a more valuable record.

Crystal-Clear Outer Sleeves

Crystal-Clear Outer Sleeves

We use these crystal-clear outer sleeves with all of our used records. This keeps the sleeves from getting damaged and worn.

These are super clear sleeves and you can add a few to your order BUY HERE

Dynamic Anti-Static Inner Sleeves

Dynamic Anti-Static Inner Sleeves

We use these dynamic anti-static inner sleeves in house. Based on the original high quality Japanese style inner but produced in the UK making them more affordable.

Once cleaned we place the record into one of these anti-static inners. These are perfect if you are looking to keep your records clean and scuff free and they're the same ones we use for our own personal collections.

You can see more on them HERE

Once the record has been cleaned we find which version we have and grade the record.

Finding out which version we have is a laborious process, but we pride ourselves in our accuracy and fair pricing. We want to ensure that we do have that rare first press, so that you can buy with confidence.

Our grading is also very tight, if we say something is a VG+, it's a VG+. We like to be honest and transparent and have 100% positive feedback on Discogs that can atest to that.

Record Grading

Mint (M)
Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed.

Near Mint (NM)
A nearly perfect record. A NM or M- record has more than likely never been played, and the vinyl will play perfectly, with no imperfections during playback. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as any sign of slight handling. An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other noticeable similar defects. The same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, etc.

Very Good Plus (VG+)
A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Defects should be more of a cosmetic nature, not affecting the actual playback as a whole. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Spindle marks may be present. Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner. In general, if not for a couple of minor things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.

Very Good (VG)
Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time.

Good Plus (G+), Good (G)
A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be played through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear, or other defects will be present. While the record will be playable without skipping, noticeable surface noise and "ticks" will almost certainly accompany the playback.

Poor (P), Fair (F)
The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully split, crinkled, and written upon.

Generic
The term "generic" refers to a type of sleeve that is not specific to the release. A generic sleeve is either a plain sleeve or a company sleeve with standard company artwork. A sleeve that is graded as "generic" needs no further grading, as a generic sleeve generally adds little value to the item and can be easily replaced.

Finally the record is photographed and listed!

Every record is photographed so that you have a much clearer idea of what the item exactly is. Obviously the feeling of flicking through a crate and having an album in your hands can't be replicated online, but we try to get as close as possible to it!
